A landmark historic building, Africa Hall was designed by architect Arturo Mezzedimi and officially inaugurated by Emperor Haile Selassie in 1961.
It was here, in this conference center, that the African Union's predecessor, the Organization of African Unity (OAU) was founded on 25 May 1963.
