The Strategic Planning, Oversight and Results Division (SPORD) in collaboration with the Human Resources Management Section concluded its second in-person training workshop series in Results-based management (RBM) and Quality Assurance under the theme Promoting a culture of results orientation in ECA. The training workshop brought together about 50 ECA staff, composed of Chiefs of Sections, Programme Management Officers and others who work on programme management, from 22 to 26 January 2024 in Kigali Rwanda.
The workshop aimed to enhance staff knowledge and skills to adequately mainstream and institutionalize RBM in ECA. It covered both theoretical and practical aspects of RBM with a view to customizing it to the practical work experience of staff in ECA. The training also focused on the principles and processes of RBM, underpinning the planning, monitoring, reporting and evaluation phases.
The workshop modality was delivered through plenary presentations on the theoretical and conceptual aspects, with hands-on applications drawn from ECA work programmes. Participants worked in groups to apply situation or problem analysis, stakeholder mapping, developing theory of change and formulating results framework.
Participants focused on delivering quality results and learnt to avoid confusing activity for productivity.
In closing the training workshop, Mr. Said Adejumobi, Director of SPORD, appreciated the practical sessions, which enabled participants to apply the principles of RBM in different programming phases and ensuring results-oriented reporting. He also underscored the opportunity of the networking, peer-to-peer experience-sharing during the workshop which helped to foster collaboration and learning from each other for delivering better results.
Participants acknowledged that RBM is everyone’s business for delivering quality results. They expressed a high level of satisfaction of the workshop.
